Tallwood House

is a residence for Christian Scientists in Concord, New Hampshire, USA.

Owned and operated by New Hampshire Home for Christian Scientists (NHHCS), a non-profit 501(C)(3) charitable religious organization.

ABOUT US:
Tallwood House is a welcoming home with a family setting, where residents bear witness to God's care, the teachings of Christian Science are practiced, and Christian Science nurses provide loving care with expectancy of healing.

OUR PURPOSE:

To support the footsteps of those seeking a greater understanding of God’s care and protection, and to provide a home where one may live in accord with the teachings of Christian Science.

NON-PROFIT: We are a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) religious charitable organization, and are always grateful for donations to support our ongoing operations and benevolence for some residents as needed. Thank you!

Daily Life

Tallwood House is a welcoming home where all work together in support of the Cause of Christian Science, the world, the surrounding community
and each other.

The comfortable, homey, wooded surroundings invite one to settle in for study, relaxation, or conversation. Everyone is included at the cheerful, family-style, wholesome meals.

The grounds offer gardens to dig around in or simply enjoy lawns, patios, and the residential neighborhood's quiet streets.

There are shopping trips in town, sightseeing, events by local volunteers, seasonal festivities,
and of course, Concord church services and activities. Assistance available with errands and outings. Residents may bring their house pets (upon approval).

Tallwood provides a sense of home for all who live there.

The Home

Tallwood House sits on a sunny knoll in a residen-tial neighborhood of Concord. The house is a beautifully restored historic Colonial with a newer wing with private rooms for eight residents. There

is an activity room, library, sunroom, patios, and gardens. Residents and all the home's activities are on one floor, and walkways and ramps offer easy access to the great outdoors.

Each resident has a private room, which they may furnish with their own sense of home. Beloved pets also contribute to home life at Tallwood.

The house and spacious grounds are well-maintained, comfortable, and quiet — just a mile from active downtown Concord and the Christian Science Church and Reading Room.

Care

We welcome adults of any age who wish to live in

a group home where practicing Christian Science

is the way of life. Loving, cheerful Christian Science nurses are always on duty at Tallwood.

This home is not a nursing facility, but support is available as needed on an individual basis. Additional rates apply for Christian Science nursing assistance.

The House Manager, who is head of the household, makes an assessment of whether Tallwood is the right spot for each individual who applies to move there. Sometimes a brief stay is part of the decision for both the House Manager and the applicant.

If a resident becomes unable to participate in Tallwood daily life, such as meals in the dining room, for an extended period, a different living arrangement may be required.

Tallwood Aerial View

Tallwood House

The 1880's house and newer wing have been diligently restored and updated for a pleasant, convenient, up-to-date residence. As you can see, the house is extensive, accommodating up to eight residents in the brick wing, and the House Manager and family live on the second floor. In the foreground are a breezeway, garage, and shed. Solar panels on the upper roof supply much of Tallwood's electricity, and there is a charger for electric cars.

We are always grateful...

for donations, gifts and bequests for its ongoing operation, including benevolence to residents as needed.

The funds also help us keep the room and board rates modest, and offer some employment benefits to our Christian Science nurses and other workers in the home.
